Slump Mold

Sgrafifto

Plan:

-Flatten clay

-Press clay onto plate

-Smooth it out

-Flatten clay

-Make slump mold into bowl

-Paint with underglaze with 3 coats and blow dry

-Sketch out plan for starfish

-Carve starfish

-Fire then clear glaze

For this piece I used smooth sculpture and I just wanted to make a plate. I could've made this better by making it thicker so it would have support on the sides. I didn't use this slump mold because I didn't have a plan to use it, I also didn't use a bag under it so it stuck to the plate.

Relief Carving

IMG_6547.jpeg

For this piece I used smooth sculpture and the underglaze royal blue. I really like this piece, I tried to make it simple enough to where I wouldn't mess it up but I also tried to make it cute so I could use it. If I were to make this again I would spend more time on the carving and cleaning it up.

-Flatten out clay enough to carve into

-Slump mold

-Lightly carve outline/plan

-Carve outside of anchor (deepest part)

-Carve higher parts of anchor

-Lightly carve rope (Highest part)

-Make details on rope

-Clean up everything else

-Fire and glaze

For this piece I used the clay smooth sculpture and the glazes Cotton tail, Rawhide, and deep lake. I liked this piece a lot and I think I did well on painting it and making the design. If I were to do this again I would focus on the dimensions more and make more details.

Coil Building

For this piece I used smooth sculpture and the glaze lagoon. For this piece I wanted to make a functional bowl for berries. I didn't do well with this piece and I was just debating getting rid of it but It held together. Next time I would focus more on slipping and scoring everything and making sure it wouldn't fall apart.

-glaze

Plan:

For this piece I used smooth sculpture and the glazes lagoon, irish luck, and java bean. For this piece I wanted to make a cup or vase for flowers. On this piece I did well on building the cup. Next time I would make sure my clay isnt too wet so it will stand when I make the bottom

For this piece I used venus white and the glazes clear, rosey posey, and pinky swear. For this piece I wanted to make an orchid that could hang on the wall. I did well on the shapes of each slaba dn connecting them in the right positions. Next time I would spend more time on the glazing and make it more detailed.
